Family and Community Engagement

The Family and Community Engagement initiative was developed to move towards a ‘doing with’ relationship with stakeholders; in comparison to ‘doing to’. It aims to create a positive working partnerships with parents and community members through shared learning experiences. The team has membership from the School Board, P&C, Music Parent Committee (MPC), Churchlands SHS Alumni, Churchlands Foundation, staff, students and community members. It is a team that connects all the groups that make up the school.

The team assesses current school practices in engaging family and community and is an advisory body that provides recommendations for practices that aim to optimise the experience we provide for family and community.

We want you to be engaged in what we are doing. We welcome parents and community members to get involved and share their expertise by filling out the form below.

Fathering Project

This is a call to arms for all fathers or father-like figures. If you want to meet other Dad’s in the community, get some tips on raising children and help other Dad’s and like hanging out with blokes, doing fun stuff with your kids, then this is for you. Please sign up using the QR code below. Our launch will be at the Floreat Bowling Club on 10 December 2021.

We are looking for Dads who want to make a difference in their own families and wider community. As teachers, we have such a small amount of time to influence our students and we are seeing an increasing need to help parents. The CSHS Dad’s group is an initiative in partnership with The Fathering Project that acknowledges the difference fathers make in a family and is part of the CSHS Community Engagement strategy.

Please contact Roger Harris if you would like to know more or are interested in being a leader in the Dad’s group. Being a leader will involve a few brief meetings annually where we brainstorm with other leaders and plan activities and events.
