Geoff Nelson

Geoff Nelson was a foundation student of Churchlands Senior High School, beginning as a first year high school student in 1962. He was a successful student and a keen participant in school life. He has many memories and stories of those early days. Geoff went on to take up teaching and taught at John Curtin, moving on to the role of Head of English at Scarborough Senior High School. He then served as Deputy Principal at Carnarvon and City Beach before his return to Churchlands Senior High School for over 10 years as Deputy Principal.

Geoff is acknowledged especially for his dedication and loyalty to the school, as a student and deputy. He has great affection and respect for Churchlands Senior High School and during his time here took great care to preserve its heritage. He has saved historical artifacts from the skip bins, he has photographed and recorded events, and researched and verified information. As a deputy he took pains to promote the culture of the school with students, engaging them in events and projects to enhance the spirit and fabric of the school. Since his retirement Geoff has been an enthusiastic and tireless supporter of the Alumni, collecting and working on the archives, supporting events with practical and knowledgeable help, and acting as a custodian of all things Churchlands.
