Kay Banner

Artinspiration for our Year 12 ATAR students

  • Senior School
  • Excursion/Incursion

West Australian artist Kay Gibson was invited to run a printmaking workshop in the Churchlands art rooms. The workshop was run as an intensive incursion day and the students thoroughly enjoyed having her.

Kay Gibson is a painter and printmaker based in Margaret River. Her practice is reflective of her life in Margaret River and while producing her own art, she teaches Painting and Printmaking at the Margaret River Campus of TAFE. Kay earned her Bachelor of Arts, (Visual Arts), from Edith Cowan University in 2002. In 2005 she achieved Honours in Visual Arts.

Kay discussed her work and demonstrated some of the printmaking techniques that she uses, such as dry-point etching. This was a valuable opportunity for students, they learnt and practised new techniques which will go on to support them with the practical components of their Art  ATAR course.

It was great to see students focusing in their work with such determination. Thank you to our Visual Arts teacher - Sharon Andrews, for organising this incursion.
