NAPLAN
What is NAPLAN?
The National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for students in Years 7 and 9. It measures student progress in:
- Reading
- Writing
- Language Conventions (Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation)
- Numeracy
NAPLAN helps schools and parents understand how students are progressing in these core skills and supports teaching and learning programs.
NAPLAN 2026 Testing Period
NAPLAN testing at Churchlands Senior High School will take place between:
Wednesday 11 March and Monday 18 March 2026
Students will complete the tests during scheduled school sessions.
Students who are absent will be given an opportunity to complete catch-up tests where possible.

NAPLAN Information
NAPLAN is completed online at Churchlands.
Students will use their laptop.
Please ensure your child:
- Brings their fully charged laptop to school each day
- Brings headphone
Please be a where that there will be limited spare school laptops available for use.
NAPLAN results:
- Help teachers identify student strengths
- Help identify areas for improvement
- Support school teaching programs
NAPLAN is only one part of the school’s assessment process.
Results are usually provided to parents later in the year.
Churchlands Senior High School encourages students to:
- Do their best
- Stay calm and relaxed
- Understand this is not something to stress about
Students are not expected to study specifically for NAPLAN.
If you wish to apply for an exemption or withdrawal, please contact the school as soon as possible.
Students who normally receive learning adjustments at school may also receive appropriate support during NAPLAN.
If your child is absent during a test, the school will attempt to schedule a catch-up session.
Please notify the school of any planned absences.
