Laptop Programs
Since 2009 Churchlands SHS has been leading the way in student one to one laptop programs in the state. The School has invested significant time and resources into ensuring a successful laptop program is achieved as it believes strongly in making sure students are empowered and not disadvantaged in a world that is quickly progressing technologically.
Parents and students are welcome to purchase and bring personal BYOD model (as long as it meets the school minimum specifications and standards) and we have also partnered with Stott Hoare to give parents the choice of a full service Stott Hoare BYOD model which includes warranty and support from a locally run business.
Why should students own a laptop?
The school has embraced the use of technology to emphasise 21st Century Skills and to reinforce the General Capabilities of the Australian Curriculum for example:
- Applying Social and Ethical protocols and practices when using ICT
- Investigating with ICT
- Creating with ICT
- Communicating with ICT
- Managing and operating ICT
Hence it is essential that all students have a working laptop with them to facilitate their learning.
We have found that in Years 7-9, the focus of ICT is to create information, whilst in Years 10-12 the students are usually consumers of information. This will be part of your evaluation process when you purchase a device.
