Music Community

Music Parents

The Music Parents Committee (MPC) extends a warm welcome to all parents of students in the music program. We are confident that like us, you will find your child has accepted the chance to be involved in a very exciting and challenging high school education. As parents we have the opportunity to watch our children participate in fantastic experiences and be part of a talented and committed group of students. We also have a chance to give back to the school in order to enhance the opportunities and experiences that the school is able to provide for music students.

Each Music Parent is expected to volunteer at least twice during the year in order to enhance Churchlands' vibrant music programme. Music parents work together to support the teachers and the program in many ways, from taking photos and preparing the newsletter, to helping out as stage crew or with parking, to selling snacks at the kiosk and alcohol and other beverages at the bar. By participating in events in various ways, parents get to know each other and the staff, joining a welcoming community and rewarding partnership.

A committee of office bearers and coordinators is formed each year to oversee the various fundraisers and other tasks parents perform for the School of Music. Music Parents Committee meetings are held regularly in Weeks 2 and 6 of each term. All Music parents are welcome to attend. The meeting dates are as follows:

2023 Meetings | 7.30pm-9.00pm | Choral Studio (across the Concert Hall):

  • Term 3 - 21 August
  • Term 4 - 16 October and 13 November

All music parents are warmly welcomed! The Head of the School of Music, Glenn Robinson, gives an update each meeting. Attending is a great way to find out what is going on as well as a wonderful opportunity to meet other music parents and get involved.
